If there’s one thing we know to be true after 10 years in the event services industry, it’s this: making a big impression means focusing on the small details.
Whether it’s a large or small conference, a trip to an exotic destination or something more traditional – everything has to be just right. The concept. The location. The entertainment, food and budget. If one little thing is off, it affects the whole experience.
At planning MODE, we understand this. That’s why we’ve built our business around getting the details right every step of the way.
We spend time getting to know our clients so that we can create a customized experience for them – every single time. We work hard to understand their values, culture and expectations, and then we use our creative and strategic insights to bring inspiring experiences to life.
Monica has always been one to get things done. While in school at the University of Texas, she started her career as the events coordinator for the Republican Party of Texas. Following graduation, she spent several years with Blockbuster Inc., planning annual meetings, events and conferences, as well as coordinating celebrity appearances. She later joined a third party event management company, where she led the operations division until departing to co-found planning MODE.
Monica and her husband David are proud members of the Texas Exes and can be found in Austin whenever their Longhorns are playing at home.
Desiree loves running a big event. After graduating from Texas A&M University, she managed the Team in Training marathon and triathlon programs for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Dallas and New York City. From there she joined Allure Magazine to plan signature and retail events. Desiree returned to Texas to develop client relationships at a third party event management company before leaving to co-found planning MODE.
Desiree and her husband Travis enjoy seeing live music, trying new restaurants and working on their Mid-Century Modern home.
Our four proprietary MODEs of operation enable us to serve our client's needs from the day we meet through the wrap-up of a successful program.
Every company is unique, with it's own culture and values. During proposal MODE, we make sure that every event is customized to reflect these defining traits.
We work side-by-side with our clients from the beginning to identify the vision for the event, understand the company culture, and talk through the goals, attendee profiles and expectations.
We then translate this information into a strategic plan that drives every decision, from the concept to the destination, the venue and the budget.
The little things make or break an event. This is where planning MODE really shines.
We make lists – lots of lists – and continuously work through them to make sure nothing is left to chance. Program branding, employee communication, transportation details and hospitality services, production specs, guest amenities, VIP services and everything in between. We have it covered.
Once the event begins, we implement every detail during execution MODE.
We manage the set-up, preview, and supervision of each program element and function, including facilitating all attendee communication and hospitality services. We also handle all hotel relations, daily reports, and billings so that our clients can focus on the business (or fun) at hand.
And no matter how large or small the requests may be, the answer is always "yes." Misplaced sunglasses, lost luggage, or dinner reservations for 10 people in half an hour – whatever it is that you need, consider it taken care of.
After the final attendees have headed home and another successful event is complete, we're gearing up for the final stage in our process: wrap-up MODE.
All program financials are audited and reconciled to our client's approval, including concise, timely and transparent billing.
And when it's beneficial to our clients, we issue surveys and conference evaluations to everyone involved to critique the experience and find ways to enhance future events for their specific audience.

I've worked with Monica and Desirée for years in planning my company's annual conference and wouldn't use anyone else. Their vision, creativity, attention to detail and work ethic are unrivaled in the industry.

I continue to be impressed with planning MODE. I've worked closely with Monica and Desirée on multiple events and wouldn't consider using another planning or meeting management company. We expect to do business with planning MODE for years to come.Joe Judson
Thank you, thank you, Monica and Desirée! Your ability to "get it" quickly – the theme, tone, goals and budget – made you so easy to work with. You took our short fuse and tiny budget and turned it into a really fun event.
I loved the double duty centerpiece/party favor – I can't wait to see what you'll do with some time and money!Rona Bonn
Thank you for planning this event for us – y’all did such a great job! I was most impressed by your great attitudes through all of the changes. Everyone was so pleased with the transportation, hotel, restaurant and the goodie box. They especially loved the room credit and the chips!
We are all closer as a team because of this trip. Thank you again for all of your help!Kristin Tavcar France
The attention to detail, personal touch and excellent service provided by planning MODE makes our club trip incredibly rewarding and special. Every year, the trip winners go home thinking "I HAVE to find a way to make it to Inner Circle again next year!" It has – by far – the best ROI of any sales incentive we've ever implemented.Randy Potts
From the very first conversation with planning MODE, to the time we boarded the plane to return home after the trip, Desirée and Monica went above and beyond to meet our unique needs. They took the time to learn about our company, our people, and our culture. They provided a list of destinations that met our requirements, and found a location that was perfect for our team. They kicked off the event in Austin with a party and gave each attendee a very comprehensive packet of information about the trip. All we had to do was show up for the flights. While at Jumby Bay, each team member only had to worry about relaxing and having fun; Monica and Desirée literally took care of everything else. I’m glad to say that planning MODE is finalizing plans for our third Quota Club, and it won’t be the last.Greg Brown
